I developed illustrations for the first pop up book from Alaska, situated in Alaska, and by Alaskan artists. I worked with Liz O’Connell, writer and director, Susan Joy Share, art consultant and pop up engineer, and Vered R. Mares, design assistance, to illustrate this children’s book about Apun, the arctic fox. The publication was developed and published in part, with the Anchorage Museum.
Apun ventures out of her burrow in April when snow still blankets the Arctic. The hungry Arctic fox explores the ever-changing environment. What will she encounter? Will she find food?
You can read more about the process of illustrating this book, and see a slideshow of all of the illustrations on my blog.
