Fine Art

I enjoy making work about the natural world that isn't quite "science illustration". This work includes drawings, paintings, cyanotype prints, and other mixed media. It is my venue for exploring our relationship with the natural world and diving into the subjects that are of deep interest to me. I also am happy to create commissions for others.

Science Illustration

I create visuals that explain a process or a place. From pop-up books for children, interpretive signs, coloring books, and other educational materials, I have experience creating engaging, one-of-a-kind visuals. Here you will find a selection of projects that I have worked on, as well as portfolios of black and white, color, and digital work. I am so honored to get to share this body of work alongside artists John Hagan and Michael Walsh at the Bunnell Street Arts Center in October. Bunnell did a really nice job documenting the exhibit for others to experience and I wanted to share those resources and a few of my thoughts and photos with you here.

Learning to Know Plants: This is something I am passionate about because it has been meaningful to me. During my childhood, I was a nature nerd who loved spending time in gardens and forests.

I love this time of year! If you’ve followed me for a bit you know I love walking through the forest in the spring and find all the different blooms. To celebrate I put together two coloring pages, featuring two of my favorite orchids from the McCarthy area, the Calypso Orchid who will be gracing us soon with pink clusters in the forest; and the Mountain Lady Slipper, which is much less common but quite stunning.
